Subject: We can make a Difference!

Dear Colleague,

We are all painfully conscious of the heart wrenching devastation caused by the recent floods throughout the country which have already claimed 1,500 lives and displaced more than 2.5m people. Conservative estimates indicate that the magnitude of destruction will be 3 to 4 times that of the 2005 earthquake.

I know you are anxious and desperate to start contributing straight away, but we must proceed in an organized and systematic manner. Over the last few days we have been busy putting together a comprehensive plan that will allow us to channelize our collective resources towards the rescue and rehabilitation work.

In this regard I wanted to share some very important updates with you;

Firstly, Telenor Pakistan has made an initial commitment of Rs.100m (US$ 1.2m approx) in cash and contributions towards flood relief. We hope our example will spur other MNC’s into action as well.

Secondly, we have selected Pakistan Red Crescent Society as a partner. PRCS has presence in all affected areas and impeccable reputation in saving and rebuilding lives. They will also guide us on how our employees can work along with PRCS’s volunteers or what goods and supplies should be donated.

Thirdly, we have set up a mechanism for employees to make a donation from their monthly salaries. I have decided to donate 2 day’s salary to this cause and hope you follow suit. Telenor Pakistan will match your contribution 4 times over (i.e. for every Rs. 1000 of employee contribution, TP will add Rs. 4000, making our collective contribution Rs. 5000). So please donate generously.

Lastly, we need you to become champions of this cause. Pass this message around to your friends and family, create awareness, get others to join Telenor’s efforts in raising funds and collecting much needed supplies. Information and details about the program will be on the portal shortly. Stay tuned.
