Filtration plants installed in the capital to provide clean drinking water are  supplying contaminated water, causing diseases among the capital  residents.
According to a report of Pakistan Council of Scientific &  Industrial Research (PCSIR), 45 per cent of filtration plants are providing  contaminated water, which is used by 75 per cent of the citizens. 
According to the report, water obtained from various filtration plants  of the city were sent for laboratory testing and human wastes were found in the  water obtained from filtration plants installed in the Sectors I-8, I-10, I-10  Markaz, G-8, G-9 and G-11.
It has also been found that some tube wells,  installed in Zone-II sectors, are providing contaminated water, which is causing  hepatitis while bacteria were also found in some samples of water obtained from  Zone-III.
It has also been found that these filtration plants are not  being checked regularly and many of them have lost their benefit due to lack of  attention.
